TypeMicrophones come in different types, primarily dynamic and condenser. Dynamic microphones are durable and handle high sound pressure levels well, making them ideal for live performances. Condenser microphones are more sensitive and provide a broader frequency response, which is great for studio recordings. If you need a microphone for live DJing, a dynamic microphone is usually the best choice. For recording purposes, a condenser microphone might be more suitable.
Polar PatternThe polar pattern of a microphone determines how it picks up sound from different directions. Common patterns include cardioid, supercardioid, and omnidirectional. Cardioid microphones pick up sound primarily from the front, reducing background noise, which is ideal for live performances. Supercardioid microphones have a tighter pickup pattern, offering even more isolation from ambient noise. Dynamic microphones are generally more robust and can withstand drops and rough use better than condenser microphones.
